My life... My stories... My Dreams

It was early December in 1976, the full moon was shining bright on the barn in the middle of small town in Laos, a country
in Southeast Asia. That is the resemblance of my name Chanpheng (pronounce like the bubbly stuff). I was born on a
Monday night under a bright full moon.

The youngest of 7 and only 1 sister, I was picked on by them but always looked after for my best interest. It's the love of
my family that keeps me going.  7 nephews and 1 niece, get the trend here? Yes I do spoil her.

Losing 2 of my brothers was the hardest thing on me, having been so close to both of them and their son. And the
selfishness of their mother have left us in search of their whereabouts and wellbeing. We will find them someday.

My passion for the outdoors come from my parents love for taking me fishing. We never really camped out anywhere, but
there'd be mornings of waking up at 4am to drive where ever and set up that bamboo rod. I've traveled all over Minnesota,
looking for my solitude, and spent many days on the road searching for tranquility.  It's taken me across the country
where I have seen some of the most  beautiful wilderness. Mother Nature will always be apart of my life and apart of my
work.

It's having a vision for something that makes you who you are. I woke up at 5am on the rocks of Gooseberry Falls State
Park. Sleeping outside on the rocks, listening to the soothing crush of the water upon the rocks, waking up to the
sounds of loons singing and colors of the rising sun. This is how this photo was captured. Getting the best of both
world.
